||24 Hour Theater IV
Another amazing experiment
Writers' lockdown 11:30pm - March 24
LIVE PERFORMANCE ...
Saturday, March 25th at 8:00pm ($10)
On Friday night, March 24th, at 11:30pm we
locked six local playwrights into our theater with nothing but caffeine, computers and
sweet, sweet inspiration to sustain them for the next seven hours. When dawn broke, we
were the proud parents of six new plays!
The writers drew script elements from a hat ... a setting, a prop, a character, a line of
dialogue, then a sound cue ... from prompts that YOU submitted anonymously via our
website. Once all five elements were drawn, the writers were given 7 hours to complete
their original script - incorporating all five of the prompts. These were ...
SETTING: "A Whore House"
PROP: "A Headless Baby"
CHARACTER: "A Healer"
DIALOGUE: "I have two words for you my friend ... what ever."
SOUND CUE: "Someone falling from a great height and hitting the ground"
On Saturday, March 25th, at 8:00am six directors arrived to read through the new plays. At
9:30am 24 actors arrived to be quickly cast in the plays. Throughout the day technicians,
actors, and directors will worked quickly to learn, rehearse, tech, costume, and produce
our new little bundles of joy. They scrambled to find costumes and props, furiously create
settings, lighting cues, sound cues. And at 8:00pm on March 25th, for better or worse, we
proudly presented to you THE WORLD PREMIERE OF SIX NEW PLAYS THAT DIDN'T EXIST 24 HOURS
