24 Hour Theater VI
Installment Six: FIRST BLOOD

Writers' lockdown 11:00pm - June 30th
Live performance July 1st at 10:00pm

(Following the 7:00pm performance of "RE: Woyzeck")

On Saturday, June 30th, we will once again lock local playwrights into our theater with nothing but caffeine, computers and sweet, sweet inspiration to sustain them for the next seven hours. When dawn breaks, we'll be the proud parents of their new, original works!

On Saturday night, the writers will draw five script elements from a hat ... a setting, a prop, a character, a line of dialogue, then a sound cue. Once all five elements are drawn, the writers will have to find a way to incorporate them into a brand new play script. The elements will be drawn from a pool of prompts collected on this website! Want to suggest a prompt? CLICK HERE!

The writers will have until 7:00am to complete their original script with all five elements in place.

ON SUNDAY ...

* At 7:30am our producer will arrive to bring donuts and coffee to the writers.
* At 8:00am the directors, technician and production assistants will arrive and all will be given a staged reading of the new plays (by the writers).
* At 9:30 am the actors will arrive and quickly be cast into the plays.

Throughout the day technicians, costumers, actors, assistants and directors will work quickly to learn, rehearse, tech, costume, and produce our new little bundles of joy. They will scramble to find costumes and props, furiously create a set, lighting cues, sound cues. Then, for better or worse ...

AT 10:00PM ON JULY 1ST WILL WILL PRESENT, LIVE,
THE WORLD-PREMIERE STAGING OF OUR BRAND NEW PLAYS!
