THE CHERRY ORCHARD

Auditions will take place Sunday, January 8th 11:00 am to 6:00 pm and Monday, January 9th from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Actors of all ethnicities, trained/experienced, with lots of energy, no attitude - are encouraged to audition. There is no pay.
AUDITIONS: Please prepare a 1 minute monologue, IF you do not have one, sides will be available.
All roles are open. There are 7 men and 5 women. The roles of Passerby, Stationmaster, and Post Office Clerk will be casted amongst the 12 actors. The auditions will consist of cold readings of scenes and monologues.
Rehearsals will be from January 14th to March 15th. The show runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from March 16th through April 7th.

LYUBOV Andreevna Ranevskaya: (late 30’s - 50’s): a landowner who is torn between selling her cherry orchard and moving on. Very mercurial and giving.
Leonid Andreevich GAEV: (late 40’s - 50’s): Lyubov’s brother. Active and vocal about his optimism. Loves to eat fruit and play billards.
ANYA (20’s to play seventeen): Daughter to Lyubov. Sweet, caring, and mature. She is the love interest of Peter Trofimov.
VARYA (20’s-30’s to play twenty-four): Adopted Daughter of Lyubov. Hard working and responsible. Has unrequited feelings for Lopahkin.
LOPAKHIN: (30’s-40’s): Former Serf of the Ranevskaya orchard. A self made man. Ashamed of his heritage and wants to strip it away. Extremely energetic and physical.
TROFIMOV: (20’s -30’s): An Idealistic Student for a New World. Sees things in a different perspective. Highly Optimistic. Bright and Practical.
YEPIKHODOV: (30’s-40’s): The Clerk. A source of amusement for the others. Has proposed to Dunyasha. Hopeless lover and simple guy. (Looking for an actor with some experience on Guitar/Bass)
SIMEONOV-PISCHIN: (late 40’s-60’s): Another landowner who is in debt. A huge flirt and likable neighbor. Optimistic and faithful. Interested in others lives.
DUNYASHA: (20’s): The maid who has romantic yearnings. In constant need of validation. Sweet and confused. Has a crush on Yasha.
YASHA: (20’s-30’s) Manservant to Lyubov. Detests the country life and chooses a life of travel. Selfish and conceited; willing to take risk. Develops a crush on Dunyasha.
CHARLOTTA IVANOVNA: (20’s - 30’s): Anya’s Governess. Insecure and lonely. Loves to perform tricks. Charming and bold.
FIERS: (50’s and up; to play 87): An old servant who chooses duty over freedom. Prefers life in the old days. Simple and hard working.
