THE HUNGER ARTISTS THEATRE COMPANY FULLERTON, CA – The Hunger Artists Theatre Company is proud to present their new Second Stage Series, opening with The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) directed by company member Kaitlyn Tice. All of The Bard’s 37 shows performed in one show? Yes. Three “experts” improvise their way through all of Shakespeare’s plays in some very inventive ways. Plus, the fastest performance of Hamlet ever performed. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) was originally performed by the Reduced Shakespeare Company on June 19, 1987 at the Paramount Ranch in Agoura, California before moving to a the Edinburgh Festival Fringe that same year. In 1996, it opened at the Criterion Theatre in London where it ran for nine years. It has since been performed all over the world. This production features Beaker, Jason Edward Brown, Chris Kipp and Freddy Chavez. Jason Edward Brown was last seen in Hunger Artists production of The Taming of the Shrew in 2009 and Chris Kipp appeared in Company in 2008. Freddy Chavez and Beaker are making their Hunger Artists debuts. Matt Washburn is the Production Assistant and Stephanie Cooke and David Yu are the Stage Managers on this production. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) was written by The Reduced Shakespeare Company consisting of Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield. The company was founded in 1981 by Daniel Singer, who wrote a 25 minute version of Hamlet for the Renaissance Pleasure Faire. They later wrote a 20 minute version of Romeo and Juliet which they also performed at Renaissance Faires and street performances. It was suggested to them that they take their Hamlet to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in order to create a longer show, they decided to throw in the rest of Shakespeare’s plays thus creating the Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged). ”I am really excited about this show,” says director Kaitlyn Tice. ”I have amazingly talented cast members that are working their tails off to bring the funny. If you want to be truly entertained (and maybe even learn a few things about Shakespeare), then this is the show for you!” Kaitlyn Tice has been a Hunger Artists company member since 2007. She most recently directed The Taming of the Shrew last summer. She has also appeared in several productions at The Hunger Artists, including The Vagina Monologues, Company and Flying Spaghetti Monster: The Holy Mug of Grog. “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) is a great show to start off our Second Stage,” says Artistic Director Amber Scott. “As a theatre that has a tradition of playing with classical theatre, this is a natural fit and a hilarious show.” Performances of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) will take place on Saturdays at 5 pm and Sundays at 4 pm, with a special performance on Thursday, April 1st at 8 pm. There is no show on Easter Sunday, April 4th. General admission tickets are $15; senior and students (with valid ID) may purchase tickets for $12.
